Please excuse the long title it was the first thing that came to mind as I sat down to type.  This weekend I got really lucky and ended up not having to work on Sunday so I got to stay with my sister and her family which was really nice.  I’m happy that I got to spend the night instead of turning around right away to go home I got to spend time with the kids and enjoy the weather with a nice walk.  Today was a good day other than nearly being late for work.  At the end of last week I went to work at 7:30A instead of 7A so I could cut overtime so this morning I didn’t want to get out of bed so I sat and watched the clock until 6:50A telling myself that I would get up at 7A only to realize that I worked at 7A.  I jumped out of bed and ended up still making it to work on time, but I cut it really close.  Other than that it was a great day.  I got a lot done at work and tomorrow I’m going to be doing some training at another site and on Wednesday I’m teaching a class which is always a good time.  I should also find out this week about the job I interviewed for last week.  The longer it takes the more anxious I get, they said they had a couple of interviews this week so I don’t expect to hear any sooner than Wednesday. I feel confident in my ability to handle this job and I just hope that they see that too.  All the walking has really helped with keeping the anxiety at bay which only motivates me to keep walking.  🙂

Anxiety

I haven’t written in a few days for no reason other then lack of time. So as you know I applied for a different job last week.  It’s a step above the position I have currently, I really want this job.  I’ve been very anxious about it and getting an interview I did the phone pre screen on Friday and the waiting has been bothering me ever since.  When I get anxious it can get really bad if it is things out of my control.  The anxiety leads to panic attacks and paranoia.  Usually I can keep this under control for the most part but unfortunately yesterday it got the best of me.  I’ve been really stressed out at work doing way more than what my job requires, this is a bad habit that I have had for a very long time.  I want this job because I want to provide for Holly while she finishes school so that she can student teach and not have to work on top of it.  Thanks to Trevor and Holly talking to me for a very long time I calmed down.  In better news I got a call last night from a friend with some really exciting news. Today I’m happy to report that I got a call setting up an interview for Monday.  I’m very excited about it!  Now I can concentrate on figuring out what I’m going to say in my interview which will help the anxiety a lot.  I was told in my phone call that I shouldn’t get “dolled up” for the interview.  I see the two people who are going to be interviewing me at least 2 days a week (usually more often) so as he said “they know what I look like on a regular basis.”  I have been trying the theory lately to dress for the job you want so that will work out quite nicely on Monday. 🙂

Temperature Blanket Tuesday

Today I finished January’s section of my temperature blanket I’m really excited about how it is turning out.  I got to the gym today which was nice, I really enjoy the gym and today it was completely empty so there was no weirdness and no waiting! After I picked up Holly from class and we spent the evening watching Gilmore Girls and I crocheted on my blanket.  Overall today was a boring day, other than the snow storm which wasn’t terrible but the snow was really wet and heavy which made things slick.  Tomorrow is weigh in day! 🙂

Weigh in Workout

1. Get Moving: I burned 1,581 calories. I walked 2.17 miles on the treadmill, biked 2.46 miles, and went 2 miles on the elliptical.

3. Increase Water intake: I drank 0 oz of water

Today was weigh in day so I dragged my butt out of bed early and went to weigh in.  There was no change in my weight from last week which was kind of surprising considering how good I feel.  My wife reminded me that no change is better than a gain and she as always is right.  After my weigh in I went to the gym and walked 1.16 miles on the treadmill until Holly got home from work.  Then we laid in bed together enjoying the one day a week were we get to see each other.  Eventually I had to take her to campus for class which worked out nice for me because it got me back into the gym after, I walked another 1.01 miles.  Then it was off to work for me.  I had a great night at work, I did some paper work, went shopping, and then played connect four at the end of my night.  After work I went back to the gym and biked and used the elliptical.  I wanted to walk on the treadmill but someone was on it.  When I first decided to get back into the swing of things I tired the elliptical and was exhausted after a tenth of a mile, today I wasn’t exhausted until I reached 1.5 miles and then I pushed myself another half a mile! It felt good, this is what I mean when I say that I feel different.  I’m excited to feel this way and I’m looking forward going to the gym tomorrow.  🙂 Oh and my new jeans continue to make me feel good, I am so happy I spent the money on them.

Today was a long day at work, I had a staff meeting in the morning and then did a taught a class this evening for 4 hours.  I didn’t get up early enough to work out but I did get in a nice workout between my meeting and training! I think I need to change it up more and go to both gyms that’s what I did today and it seemed to keep me going longer.  Tomorrow I work weird shifts again.  My water intake has gotten better but I will continue to work on doing it every day! I’m trying to figure out what I need to motivated myself to get more workouts in.  I have gained weight and I need to get better about things I just need to figure out something to motivate me other than weight loss and health.  I need a bigger goal! Any ideas would be appreciated!

Day 429 (01.13.14) Cold Test

Today I decided to put on all my new cold weather gear and test it out.  It was -10 with windchill and for the most part I was pretty warm.  My only concern is my pants were they are tighter on my thighs so I might have to get another layer or look for looser pants.  My face was cold so I need to get something for my nose and mouth, if I win the Badger Sponsorship Powered by LARABAR I will be returning some of my (current) gear and will be able to purchase other better gear! Day 379 (11.24.14) All of the Knitting!

I got up super early and hit the gym, then had a jam packed day at work and I got out of work late picked up my beautiful wife from school.  Kira came over and we talked about the A.T. and the pros and cons of mail drops and bounce boxes, I’m still not sure where I stand on them.  I sold another $30 worth of knitting today! My sales are way up and hopefully stays that way!! I finally finished by big project for the year, my christmas gift for the homemade gift exchange at Holly’s parent’s house!  I worked out for 117 minutes today!!

Day 375 (11.20.14) Let the Competition begin

I got up and knitted a bunch of stuff today for different people the knitting list is getting quite long now so I’m dedicating all of my none work and gym time to knitting.  I stopped by work for a bit to talk to my boss, then I hit the gym! I spent 138 minutes working out today and it was great, competing with my brother isn’t going to be easy he couches basketball and runs all of the drills with his players so he gets 2 hours of workout time 5 days a week plus what he does on top of it, today he did 170 minutes!! I will catch up over the weekend I hope.

Day 366 and 367 A Year in the Making

I decided to combine these two days because it has taken me a year to get here and I want to create on post filled with all of the things I’ve accomplished this year.  Let start with simply being a healthier me, I’ve never trusted felt so good in my body! I can’t believe how far I’ve come and how far I have yet to go.  Over the last few days I have been doing great with working out and eating better averaging over 2,500 calories burned each day and consuming less than 2,000 calories.  I accomplished one of my big goals which was to go 2,000 miles in a year and officially as of today my body has taken me 2,011.2 miles, that is something to be proud of if I do say so myself!! I weighed in today at 298 which is a loss of 2.8 pounds from last week, still not where I want to be but headed in the right direction.  I can’t believe how fast a year has gone, I will be leaving for the A.T. in just 3 months and 25 days.  I can’t believe how much as changed in the last year, I got a kitten, a promotion, a better car, a new roommate moving in soon, and have saved nearly 1,500 dollars, through donations, saving, and knitting.  I thought I would have more to say but it turns out I don’t.  Overall feeling good and looking forward to the next year!!!

My goal for the day was to get back to drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day, but I would like to drink way more than that.  I’m calling today mission accomplished I drank 104 ounces of water.  Got up early and went to work for a little bit, then hit the gym, then crocheted a blanket, and went back to work. I was super productive at work today, I’m ready for my meeting tomorrow and I organized a whole bunch of stuff and it was awesome! I’m feeling amazing today, getting back on to the swing of things.
